SM Cinema presents exciting movies this October

Thrills and Excitement surely await SM Cinema patrons this month as they unveiled the list of CinExclusive movies for October.

For this month, five movies are lined up to be featured in SM Cinema which includes the action-packed End of Watch on October 3, martial arts film Flying Swords of Dragon Gate on October 10, horror film VHS and Tim Burton’ animated movie Frankenweenie on October 17, with the latter being show in both Digital 3D and IMAX 3D. Finally, with Halloween just around the corner, horror movie, The Apparition will definitely give movie-goers a chill when it opens on October 24.

Opening October are two action-filled movies, the first one is the movie End of Watch which opens on October 3. The movie is about two cops, Taylor (Academy Award nominee Jake Gyllenhaal) and Zavala (Michael Peña) who risk their lives patrolling the dangerous streets of South Central Los Angeles and its impact on their lives as well as their families.  Then, on October 10, SM Cinema screens the martial arts movie Flying Swords of Dragon Gate, a retelling of the Dragon Gate legend about which a band of marauders masquerading as the staff of the new Dragon Inn by day and at night pursue their true calling as fortune hunters in search of the treasures of a lost city buried underneath the desert. The movie stars Jet Li as Chow Wai-On, the General of the Ming Dynasty.

Come mid- October, two thrilling movies will be featured: Frankenweenie and VHS that will give a good spook to both kids and adults. In this stop-motion animation movie Frankenweenie, Tim Burton tells a heartwarming story a boy, Victor and his beloved dog, Sparky. After unexpectedly losing Sparky in an accident, Victor harnesses the power of Science to bring his best friend back to life- but with some minor adjustments. However, when Victor loses sight of Sparky and the entire town finds out of Sparky, the all learn that getting a new “leash on life” can be monstrous. 

Meanwhile, for the adults who wish to get a good fright, there’s VHS. In the spirit of the found-footage-style horror movies, VHS is about a group of criminals who was tasked to scour a secluded country home to find a mysterious video tape. However, when they discover a rotten corpse amidst a collection of vintage television sets and a pile of VHS tapes, they go from one video to another- each video they witness bear images that are gruesome and too horrible for words to describe. 

Lastly, to get you in Halloween mode, SM Cinema features the horror movie, the Apparition featuring a young couple Kelly and Ben (Ashley Greene of the movie Twilight and Sebastian Stan of Gossip Girl) who experience hauntings in their new home brought about a presence that was conjured during a university parapsychology experiment. As the horrifying apparition feeds on their fear and continues to torment them, they ask for help from a supernatural expert (Tom Felton) to drive the evil spirit away from their home.   

As an added treat to its loyal patrons, SM Cinema’s e-PLUS cardholders can enjoy 50% discount on tickets. SM Advantage Card, Prestige Card, BDO Rewards Card and Global Pinoy Card holders will be given 20% off on tickets for these CinExclusive movies (except for Frankenweenie).
